| Description: | Robins' Nest's Mentor Program serves youth aged 5-25. Youth are matched with a volunteer mentor who acts as an appropriate, positive role model, by sharing valuable experiences to improve the mentee's self-esteem, social skills and life skills necessary for him/her to become a healthy, productive individual. |
| Duties: | -Mentor initiates and sustains the relationship by maintaining regular contact and scheduling at least 2 visits per month (no more than 1 per week). -Submit documentation after each scheduled meeting, whether or not contact was made with the mentee. -Contact Supervisor immediately if/when concerns arise. -Maintain confidentiality except to report abuse, neglect, threat or actual self-harm. -Ensure that attitude and demeanor demonstrates sensitivity and is non-discriminatory of clients regardless of race, color, creed, gender, age, national origin, handicap or disability, military or veteran status, marital status, religious or spiritual affiliation, sexual orientation and citizenship status, or any other basis prohibited by law. -Advance the values, ethics and mission of Robins' Nest Inc. while serving as a positive representative for the agency. |
| Qualifications: | -Mature, caring, dependable adult at least 21 years old (mentor must be five or more years older than mentee). -Must successfully complete a criminal background check and references check. -Must have a valid driver's license, auto insurance, acceptable driving record, means of transportation and be able to provide in-home services. -Ability to establish a mutually respectful partnership with the mentee and his/her family. -Must accept terms and conditions of the program. -Cannot be closely related to current program participant. All mentors must attend training session, which serves as an overall orientation to program goals, purpose and expectations. |
